Web 2.0

Web 2.0 Reflection

This year in Web 2.0 I learned :
  • How to use Blogger
  • How to make a survey
  • Many different kinds of Wiki's
  • RSS Feeds
  • Social Bookmarking
Other than the quality of the computers, nothing in this class needs to be changed; it was useful and fun to be in. I will most likely continue using Diigo for social bookmarking to make my computers more organized.

Drones Go Mainstream

  • Today's drones are lighter, have better software, longer lasting batteries and vastly improved camera technology.
  • Law enforcement agencies and border patrol are using them to keep tabs on suspected scofflaws. 3D Robotics makes a $500 drone that flies itself via GPS, scouring fields for information on crop conditions including water levels, pest infestations and other signs of trouble.
  •  Currently, Anderson said farmers pay $1,000 an hour for aircraft flyovers.
  • There is also a growing market for smaller, simpler drones marketed to kids and adults for recreational use.
  • The Parrot AR Drone, has a range of about 160 feet, is controlled by a smart phone app, and can be bought at Toys R Us for $300. There have been up to $500,000 in sales so far.

Review: Razer Blade Gaming Laptop Sleek, Powerful, Pricey

  • The new Razor- Blade gaming-centric laptop is sleek and powerful.

  • The first thing you notice about the Blade is how thin it is a 17-inch, high-definition screen is housed in a case that is less than an inch thick and weighs 6.6 pounds.
  • What makes the Blade different than standard laptops is its unique Switchblade interface, which sits on the right-hand side of the keyboard.
  • This LCD touchscreen acts as a traditional touchpad mouse for most options, but can be programmed depending on which game is being played. The new Razer laptop has an interface tailored to playing video games.
