Robo-Submarines Learn to Dive Free
Robot submarines are pretty good at finding their own way around but they still need a helpful human to guide them through twisting underwater ravines and channels.- A new guidance system will let autonomous underwater vehicles snap photos along even the most treacherous reaches of sea floor.
- AUVs can already navigate in open water by matching their depth to an existing terrain map.
- The software tweak will allow underwater robots to autonomously take pictures of hazardous locations where only remote-controlled robots have gone before.
- The team ran a successful field test in Monterey Bay earlier this month and expects the system will be ready to be tried for real sometime next year.

Japan Unveils Prototype of Maglev Train, Speeds up to 311 MPH
- More than a year after the Central Japan Railway Company received construction approval, it got started on its maglev railways.
- It has finally unveiled a Series L0 prototype that would blow away its current bullet system.
- Designed to travel at 311 mph, a single one of these high-speed marvels is designed to carry about 16 carriages, which is equivalent to 1,000 commuters.
- The popular 90-minute trip from Tokyo to Nagoya can be cut down to 40 minutes.
- It will cost around 112 billion when its all done but it is not scheduled to be complete until 2027.

Apple's New iMacs Face Delays

- The release of Apple's newly-redesigned iMac all-in-one desktop has quietly been pushed back.
- It could possibly miss a major part of holiday shopping.
- French Apple news site, Mac Bidouille, says production difficulties will push back the release of both models.
- The computer, which was unveiled at Apple's Ipad Mini event in October, is set to ship out to early buyers sometime this month.
- The larger, 27-inch model shipping in December.
- MacBidouille says it's the new friction-stir welding process Apple's using, something that bonds the two major pieces of the iMac's aluminum body together is causing the difficulties.

'Wolrd's Thinnest House' Gets Closer to Big Opening
The Worlds Thinnest House
- The thinnest house is located in between two buildings in Warsaw, Poland.
- Its widest point is 47 inches and its narrowest point is 27 inches.
- It was made for a Polish writer who wil be living and working there for part of the year.
- When he is not staying there, artists are invited to stay there.
- It is intended to stimulate the inhabitants with the unusual feeling of being restricted by their surroundings.
- Nearby buildings will provide electricity, and it has its own independent sewage system.
- It is eqipped with remote control stair that can be flattened against the wall when not in use.
- The world's thinnest house is scheduled to open in mid-October.

Summer!
MY SUMMER
During this past I did many things. Over the summer I volunteered at the Summer Recreation. I had a great time, i got to work with the younger kids. Other than that, I had a nice, relaxing summer. I went to the Poconos and saw a bunch of families that I do not often see. I went to the Little League World Series with my friends and had a great time. I hung out with my friends and just had an all around relaxing summer.
